March 2024 - OPEN Livestock Crew positions, Year-round, Full-time & Part-time (16-24 hr/wk) positions available.
Flexible scheduling (when applying, please include your availability and desired hours)
Minimum of 1 season commitment preferred, March through December.

Livestock Crew Details

$18-20+/hr (depending on experience and skills), on-the-job training, and increases based on reliability, performance, and skills gained.

Job Description
Livestock Crew members assist in daily care of our livestock, which includes poultry (broilers, layers, and ducks) and sheep (Romeldale CVM), and cleaning, sanitization, and maintenance of housing and production equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Humane treatment of livestock
  • Animal husbandry tasks:
    • Watering
    • Feeding
    • Bedding
  • Egg production: collecting, cleaning, and packing eggs
  • Cleaning and sanitization of equipment (waterers, feeders, etc)
  • Observe and report on livestock health and behavior
  • Recordkeeping on a daily care log
  • Adherence to safety protocols
  • Maintain clean, organized work & storage spaces

  • Able to lift and carry up to 40-60lbs

Reed Farm is a family-owned and operated, innovative, small-scale pastured (as season allows) poultry farm and on-farm state-inspected poultry processing facility in Western Massachusetts. We raise poultry for wholesale and provide the local farming community with custom poultry processing services. We are progressing towards a USDA Grant of Inspection (early 2025), after which we will be the sole USDA poultry processing facility in MA.
